Was the Cannonball House, a tavern for much of the previous 150 years, a speakeasy in the 1920s, a place accessed by whispered password so one could partake of illicit liquor? No one knows for sure, but on Friday, October 16, the Museum will turn the Cass Gilbert Carriage Barn into a speakeasy to kickoff Fall for Ridgefield Weekend. While there is no fee for admission, a password and photo ID will be required to gain access to the building and its cash bar.

The password will be released shortly before the event on the Museum’s Facebook Page

Where: Salem Golf Club, 18 Bloomer Road, North Salem, NY

Cost: $150.00 / person

Join us for cocktails, dinner, and dancing, with silent and live auctions to benefit the Museum’s Education Initiative. We will be presenting, for the first time, the Anna Keeler Award for “Excellence in History and Civics Education.” The recipients of the award are Andrea Donigian, Steve Ruland and Mike Settanni—all 7th grade Social Studies teachers at East Ridge Middle School. They are being honored for partnering with KTM in developing a 7th grade pilot program to teach the impact of the Civil War on Ridgefield using the museum and its collection as a primary resource. The award is being presented by Joan A. Payden, who in turn is being honored for her part in launching KTM’s Education Initiative. A California philanthropist with a Connecticut heritage, Ms. Payden is well known for her support of cultural organizations. She is especially interested in the museum’s ability to provide children with experiences that complement and enhance their classroom study of civics and history.
