Spend a day at the museum! With site admission to KTM&HC, visitors can:

  • Take a guided museum tour.
    • Tours are scheduled Thursdays through Sundays at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Click on “Buy Tickets” for more information about daily schedules.
    • Two rotating tours offer opportunities to explore the museum’s period rooms while learning about different aspects of our site’s fascinating history.
      • “Meet the Residents”: Learn about some of the site’s former residents: the original stewards of the land, the Ramapough, Munsee Lenape, and Wiechquaesgeck peoples; the home’s colonial-era builders, Benjamin and Sarah Hoyt; tavern founders Timothy and Esther Keeler; 19th-century residents Phillis Dubois and the Resseguie family; and Cass and Julia Gilbert, who transformed the property in the early 20th century.
      • “War at Home”: Learn about the experiences of the residents of our site during the Battle of Ridgefield, Connecticut’s only inland Revolutionary War battle, on April 27, 1777. Discover how the members of the Keeler household navigated community division and the war’s impact on families, and discuss how we remember the events today.
  • View current exhibitions in the Gilbert Wing and Carriage Barn.
  • Explore the grounds, take the self-guided “Gilberts in the Garden” tour, and walk the brick paths of the historic walled garden.

Visiting when the museum is closed?

Take a self-guided tour of the beautiful grounds! Scan the QR code on any of our outdoor signposts for a map of the campus and for “Gilberts in the Garden”: a walking tour about how Cass Gilbert and his family shaped the Keeler Tavern property in the early 20th century.
