Springtime slips into the gardens quietly, leaving its candy pastels in lovely combinations. Pink Tulips against white Candy Tufts, lavender Clematis among soft New Dawn Roses....the season sooths us and invites us to linger a little longer.
The flowering beds explode with vibrant yellow Black Eyed Susans and Day Lilies set against deep pink Mandevilla. Chartreuse Lady's Mantle compliments variegated Hosta, and the Arches on the East side wear a mantle of white flowering vines.
This garden awaits a wedding.
The trees above the stately brick walls begin to display their brilliant Fall colors. Dahlias, red Sedum adn Chrysanthemums welcome the cooler temperatures, refusing to surrender to the shorter days.
Our Cass gilbert roses bloom bravely into mid November; then the gardens settle in for their long Winter rest.
The gardens sleep for the winter.
