Join Chief Curator Catherine Prescott and Director of Education & Interpretation Katie Burton to get a behind-the-scenes look at "Creating Community," KTM&HC's newest tour.
The Museum's ongoing reinterpretation has headed to the 20th century! "Creating Community" - which launched this past summer - is a tour that tells the stories of people who lived and worked on our site in the 1910s and 20s.
"Creating Community" is particularly noteworthy for its recovery and inclusion of the stories of Margaret Ross and Secondo Servadio, who, in 1915, were recent immigrants to the United States and were employed on our site. Additionally, the tour takes visitors into parts of the Museum that, before 2024, had never been open to the public.
This virtual program will give viewers an insider's perspective on the research, restoration, and interpretation strategies that led to the creation of the tour. Catherine and Katie will also share details that didn't make it into the final product, as well as plans for upcoming programs and exhibitions that will dive deeper into some of the themes of "Creating Community."
The program is free to the public, but registration is required.
KTM&HC's reinterpretation is supported in part by a Planning Grant from CT Humanities. Thank you!
