First Sunday on March 3: Free Site Admission and Fun Family Activities at KTM&HC

February 27, 2024

Ridgefield, Conn.— Celebrate Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center’s (KTM&HC) reopening with our monthly program for all ages, First Sunday, on March 3. Free site admission from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including fun activities in the Garden House from 11 to 2 p.m.

After two months of being closed to the public for routine annual collections care and maintenance, KTM&HC is opening its doors and restarting its tours beginning in March. Celebrate the reopening with KTM&HC’s education staff at First Sunday on March 3, where the focus is on weaving and lap-looms! Use an assortment of colorful ribbons and yarn to make your own designs or take inspiration from examples of historic patterns. Activities in the Garden House will also include watercolor painting overlooking the gardens and plenty of children’s books – a perfect afternoon to cozy up next to the fireplace. Drop in any time between 11 and 2 p.m. to participate.

Registration is not required. Start your visit at the Visitor Center, where you can get tickets for free site admission, sign up for a tour, and plan when to participate in activities at the Garden House. Looking to make a day of it? Extend your visit and attend our Revolutionary Perspectives program at 3pm in the historic Garden House, featuring scholars from Central Connecticut State University discussing their innovative public history project, Forgotten Voices of the Revolutionary War: The Redding Encampment, 1778-1779.

The First Sundays series is funded by a generous grant from M&T Bank. On the first Sunday of each month, visitors receive free site admission, which includes a tour of our historic tavern museum and access to current exhibits and beautiful grounds. Free site admission also includes special hands-on activities and crafts in the historic Garden House from 1 to 4 p.m.
