Spend a day at the museum! With site admission to KTM&HC, visitors can:

  • Take a guided museum tour.
    • Tours are scheduled Thursdays through Sundays at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Click on “Buy Tickets” for more information about daily schedules.
    • Four rotating tours offer opportunities to explore the museum’s period rooms while learning about different aspects of our site’s fascinating history.
      • COMING SOON! “Creating Community”: The early 20th century was a time of exciting change and disruptive challenges. The concept of what it meant to be a Ridgefielder, and an American, was in flux, as various groups attempted to live in community together – or not. This tour traces the stories of the immigrants, longtime Ridgefielders, and summer residents who lived and worked on our site as they navigated personal priorities and public good. These stories showcase KTM&HC’s collection strengths in early-20th-century textiles and glass plate negatives. In Summer 2024, we’ll be prototyping the tour, which means we want your feedback about the experience – thank you for helping us tell the story of this exciting chapter of our site’s history!
      • “War at Home”: Learn about the experiences of the residents of our site during the Battle of Ridgefield, Connecticut’s only inland Revolutionary War battle, on April 27, 1777. Discover how the members of the Keeler household navigated community division and the war’s impact on families, and discuss how we remember the events today.
      • “Meet the Residents”: Learn about some of the site’s former residents: the original stewards of the land, the Ramapough, Munsee Lenape, and Wiechquaesgeck peoples; the home’s colonial-era builders, Benjamin and Sarah Hoyt; tavern founders Timothy and Esther Keeler; 19th-century residents Phillis Dubois and the Resseguie family; and Cass and Julia Gilbert, who transformed the property in the early 20th century.
      • “Highlights”: This family-friendly tour is a great way for audiences of all ages to explore the entire museum. Featuring a shorter, 30-minute duration and an emphasis on hands-on experiences, visitors will learn about selected highlights of our centuries-long site history. The “Highlights” tour is offered on First Sundays, #HandsOnHistory Sundays, and other special events dates.
  • View current exhibitions in the Gilbert Wing and Carriage Barn.
  • Explore the grounds, take the self-guided “Gilberts in the Garden” tour, and walk the brick paths of the historic walled garden.
