Ridgefield, Conn.— This week, it’s all about ghosts at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center! Preparations are underway for the annual Ghosts of Ridgefield, a series of spooky and fun ghost tours planned for three nights only: Thursday, October 28; Friday, October 29; and Saturday, October 30.
KTM&HC’s mission includes a commitment to providing opportunities to share the stories of the site’s former residents with audiences in engaging and impactful ways. The Ghosts of Ridgefield event provides a fun opportunity to showcase the stories of interesting individuals who played a role in the site’s and town’s history – with a bit of drama and spookiness!
The Ghosts of Ridgefield event has its origins with Ridgefield’s Discovery Center, an educational nonprofit that recently dissolved. Hildegard Grob, KTM&HC’s executive director, approached them last year to propose continuing the tradition of ghost tours on the museum’s site. The tours proved immensely popular in 2020 and provided a great option for safe, outdoor pandemic-era entertainment. Key individuals in that transition, who have continued to help make the event a success this year, were Terry Bearden-Rettger and George Hancock. For 2021, KTM&HC is featuring new ghosts and new stories in a tour production that includes professional makeup by Amanda Gabbard (amandagabbardbeauty.com) and enhanced outdoor lighting. Said Grob, “We have an incredible group of volunteers who help make the event run smoothly, and a great group of talented individuals who use first-person narration tell a story from the life of the real-life person/ghost they’re impersonating.”
The Ghosts of Ridgefield tours are a great way to blend history, storytelling, and spooky fun. Tours are family-friendly and recommended for adults and kids ages 7 and older. Most tours are sold out but interested individuals can check KTM&HC’s website for last-minute advance availability: https://ktmhc.ticketleap.com/. Tickets MUST be purchased online in advance: there will be NO onsite/walkup sales.
