On Sunday, October 12, come learn about the art and trade of shoemaking in early America with Andrew Rowand! Andrew has worked as a Cordwainer, or shoemaker, for ten years. His work focuses on recreating and documenting examples of historical artifacts from the 17th through 19th centuries, using period tools, materials, and methods. When he's not making shoes, Andrew currently serves as the curator and site administrator of the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent, CT.
The demonstration will take place in front of the red Carriage Barn from 1 to 4 p.m. Registration is not required but visitors are encouraged to check in at the Visitor Center.
